cops beating people up at occupy wall street (by grubenyasha)

this is tonight and from what I can figure out, it’s still happening. the reason i’m posting—AGAIN—there’s those white shirts, right up front beating the shit out of people.

Y’know, I have to say, I’m increasingly curious as to what the mobilization orders are that are being passed down. It’s so so rare to see actual officers (not in the general sense, but people who are of the paygrade/rank “officer”) being the first in line in these situations and being the ones to act, muchless the ones to be actually beating people.

And then you see the blue-shirts, and they look scared. Like, they look as if they would rather be anyfuckingwhere but there. I dunno, these cops look like they’ve got some serious issues in the chain of command (no, that’s not an excuse, just something to think about). I’m also surprised that with Bloomberg saying “This city will not stand this” or whatever, Ray Kelly hasn’t tried to clear his name of this all.

I dunno, this is just…it’s upsetting on a number of levels. I mean, I guess I don’t expect much from the NYPD, and I know that in other circumstances they would be going much harder on these protesters, but there’s something about the way in which the violence is being acted out that is really confounding.

I agree *totally*—

Let me throw in—I was on the scene shortly after all this happened, across from Liberty Plaza, and there were not only a lot of white shirts out, but a lot of suits as well.
