Stuff I Read Today
For white people, it’s especially important that we learn from our own mistakes, and don’t leave people of color to re-educate every sequential generation of activists on how to be better allies. That’s a waste of their time, for sure. I’m grateful for the white anti-racist activists who have come before me, and who have tried their best and sometimes screwed up and reflected and shared their experiences. The U.S. is pretty ingenious when it comes to erasing lived, learned history. This is no less true in radical circles (particularly white and/or college-educated circles), where we tend to cluster by age-group and receive foggy mythology of the organizing that has come before.
